About Us
Rex grew up in Northeast Portland and has been building, landscaping, and speaking Spanish since he was a boy. He started a small informal handyman business through craigslist in 2021, and since has become focused primarily on exterior carpentry and landscape construction: fences, decks, pergolas, arbors, patios, and retaining walls. He has a background in garden design/urban agriculture and loves to be outside. He is proud to mix his various skills together— landscaping, carpentry, speaking Spanish, management, and customer service.
Juve hails from Guadalajara, Jalisco, but has lived in the US for over 20 years. He’s one of the nicest and hardest working people you will ever meet, always with a smile and an upbeat attitude. Growing up his mom always told him to stop digging in the dirt, because there’d be no money in it, but now he’s getting paid to do it.
Beto is from Chiapas, Mexico, and came to the States 6 years ago. He has worked as a framer most of his time here, and started working with Day One in 2024. A natural carpenter, he has an acute eye for both structure and aesthetic, and there’s no angle or cut he can’t figure out.
What We Do
We specialize in wooden fencing, gates, decks, catios/pet enclosures, and backyard remodels. We do concrete and patio work (hardscaping) as well. We all speak Spanish- hablamos español todos.
We know how to custom build all sorts of stuff, and we've been venturing into fun new areas with that-- pet enclosures/catios, pergolas, trellises, garden beds, chicken coops, streetside lending libraries, treehouses; you name it, we can build it.
We do hardscaping-- patios, retaining walls, rock installs, etc. as well. Between the three of us we have a considerable amount of landscaping experience.
We also offer pressure washing, gutter cleaning, general yard cleanup/maintenance services, and junk removal/hauling services.
Rex is enrolled in a contractor license course February 3-5 and will be licensed, bonded and insured by April ‘26
